  • The (Memory) World Gone Mad!

Just read this article which I noticed over at JC's, the jist of it is that Intel are now working with VIA, ALi and SiS to produce DDR SDRAM chipsets for their processors. Intel, due to the agreement they signed with Rambus Inc., are unable to produce their own DDR chipsets. So after spending loads of money suing VIA for producing PIII motherboards and the like they are now encouraging them! This follows on from the news that they were in discussions with the main memory producers regarding reporting Rambus to the FTC.
When you own your own business you only have to work half a day. You can do anything you want with the other twelve hours.

VIA will help Intel sell P4s. The processors will be expencive enough, with DDR they might be somewhat within reach; as opposed to a RDRAM solution.
