Win98 stack setting

Hi all,
Can anyone remind me how to increase the number of stacks in Win 98 SE. I keep on getting errors using my Encarta 99 World Atlas. Apparently I have a minsp setting of 5 in my system ini but I can not even find reference to this.

Do you meen the 'STACKS=n,n' in AUTOEXEC.BAT?

you put a line in your config.sys file like:

stacks=9,256

I think that was the old Windows / DOS comand line. Not 100% sure on the numbers.

Everywhere I see that people say set the stacks in your config.sys to "Stacks=0,0"

Bohrn, that's because IO.sys sets the stacks to 9,256 already. This usually works okay, but as IO.sys can screw up the use of Himem.sys as well, it's best to enter your own amount in the config.sys

For Encarta to work okay, I think you'd better set stacks=18,512 in the config.sys, Brent (18 stacks, 512bytes each)
Although disabling the CD-ROM caching and read-ahead will also work in some occassions.

Thanks everyone,
I tried stacks set to 18,512 and things were a little better - I could get Encarta World Atlas 99 to launch half the time. I have checked the MS KB and am suspicious that I maybe need replacement disks. It seems that the patch might only work on US english and MS even suggest returning the disk for replacement due to a "missing file" on some editions.
