Yep, A3D is superior to EAX. I hope this rumor isn't true. What the hell would nVidia do with Aureal anyway?

I hope it's not true. Someone go bribe Creative into buying Aureal. A card with a full implementation of both technologies in hardware would rock!

On the other hand, Creative'd probably sock it too us in the checkbook.. OUCH!!

I really hope that will _NEVER_ happen! then there will be no competitors at all for creative (even less than now), and the driver situation which currently is _really_ bad, will even get worse!

        - What do you get when you put N nVidia whores in a circle and each one pats the person on their right on the back and says "nVidia wins 3dfx and Michael Knight any day of the week!" ?

        - You get N people with a boosted ego, and no-one loses anything; keep up the good work, boys!

Well, I can't claim credit for finding it, but here's the link from hardocp....

So there you have it... some kind of "proof" anyways.

Doesn't look like you were too far off- check it out (waiting for further varification, though):
              http://www.voodooedextreme.com

They DO make nVidia-based cards, among the various other things. But in this case, it's probably good news for owners of Aureal-based products (look what they've done for Hercules).

Uhm... "Nvidia make a sweet deal with Intel"..

Uhm... Anyone ever notice that at about the time NVidia showed up, Intel dropped out of the video chip market?!? Anyone, Anyone?

Hmmm.... Makes one wonder doesn't it? Maybe Nvidia really isn't a seperate entity...
Maybe once all the layers of gauze and saran-wrap are pulled away, all that's left is - Oh-My-Gosh... INTEL...

Sorry, Kind of in a conspiracy seeking mood...

Either way I'm glad the MX400(which is what I have) has ESS rather than Aureal if there's a hint of Nvidia buying them.

Once again, the latest news about Aureal can be found on the Vortex Of Sound site. (http://www.vortexofsound.com) Apparently, Guillemot have made an offer to buy Aureal. Here are the details:

"While this deal seems to have been on and off for a while now, confirmation was obtained today via a letter from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court - Oakland Division. The letter states:

Please take notice that Aureal, Inc., d/b/a Silo.com, f/k/a Aureal Semiconductor, Inc. f/k/a Media Vision Technology, Inc., the debtor and debtor in possession in the above-captioned cases (the "Debtor"), has filed a "Motion For Order (1) Approving Sale Of Certain Assets Of The Estate, Free And Clear Of Liens Asserted By OCM Administrative Services II, As Agent For Secured Lenders, Caesar Technology, Circle International (Holland) B.V. And UMC Group, (2) Authorizing Assumption And Assignment Of Specified Executory Contracts" (the "Sale Motion). In the Sale Motion, the Debtor seeks authority, among other things, to sell, either to Guillemot Corporation (the "Buyer") for the sum of $8 million or to the prevailing bidder at an auction to be held for the Assets, certain identified assets of its bankruptcy estate (the "Assets").

The letter goes on with other items regarding assets, though nothing specific to what those assets might be. It's almost important to note that someone can go to the auction apparently and outbid Guillemot. So, guess we'll see.

The hearing regarding this motion will take place on August 15, so the auction will most likely take place a week or so after that.

We'll keep you updated as we hear more."

Guillemot!!! Well I posted in a nother thread I hoped they would step foward and 'save' Aureal, A3D, and some competion for CL. So if this pans out I'll be real glad to hear it.
Hye, they be NVidea products, but they haven't tarnished Hercules' name so far.
