I have just purchased a PIII 667 133Mhz Processor and I'm having some trouble setting it up. After installing the CPU I get a registry error. (restores the reg in a loop) No problem with the Bios detecting the CPU.
The CPU is mounted to a MSI MS-6905 converter B/D and is setup correctly. I have the latest Bios and have tried about every combination I can think of:
1. set the mother board by jumpers (not Jumper Free) 2. Jumper Free 3. Intel CPU detection util (this util come up with the correct info) 4. swapped ram 196Mb(133Mhz) 5. Turned off reg check. (by doing this it will boot but no apps will run) 6. set the CPU to 100Mhz FSB (this works but in the probe util the CPU is running @ 60C) 7. tuned serial number detection on 8. tried enabling Cache EEC detect
I am running win98SE and I've had no problems with the board/ configuration until upgrading the CPU to 133Mhz FSB
After I re-install my PIII450 I have no problems. I have checked all the forums but they instructed people to try everything I have already done. This CPU & converter card has come from a working system that did not have this issue.
Can anyone give me any suggestions?
