Not that I would ever disagree with Ant , nor do I think that Matrox is immune to being errrr, "heavy-handed" when they think it's necessary.

But I do think that they generally don't have the need for such tactics the way a company like nVidia does.

It seems clear to me, as I have said before, that Matrox cards are designed for a very specific type of user... a person who is very different from nVidia's average user. The qualities that Matrox users find valuable will not be improved by limiting our access to information about competing cards, because only Matrox cards meet our needs adequately.

Plus, we're clever enough to find out anyway .

Not to mention that Matrox doesn't really have the base to make such strong-arm tactics stick on the big sites, where it might do them some good.

Matrox isn't a perfect company, by any means, but they aren't *cough*quite*cough* so dumb as to shoot themselves in the foot, whereas nVidia can survive this... or do you think that the FPS junkies will boycott the GeFarce2 just because of this news? Or that nVidia's pending and current OEM deals will fall through?

    Yeah, right.

So they suck. I'll buy that, but what difference does it really make?

    Tell me that.

To be honest, I have switched from my Matrox G400 32 MB dualhead to a nVidia Geforce DDR. And so far, I very happy with it.

I can't see why people even bother about that news. This kind of things start out quite innocent and then someone blows it up to enormous proportions. And this whole story sounds like that.

What I personally like about nVidia, is that their drivers are very solid, fast, mature. And they have the most extensive developer goodies for Direct3D and OpenGL. ~
