  • Refresh My Tired Memory on OCing AV7 MB

I just received my AMD 750 Thunderbird (Socket A)and have an Asus MB with the multiplier dip switches on order. In checking the CPU, I see that the L1 & L4 connectors have been laser cut.

After so much reading about this combo, I can not remember if I need to reconnect the connectors in order to make use of the dip switches.

Thanks in advance for the help!

    Reconnect the L1 bridges.
These are the bridges connected to the over ride pins.
    I believe thats it.
You'll need a conductive pen available here: http://www.action-electronics.com/chemtron.htm
That is if you can't find one.
    This read is worthwhile. http://members.xoom.com/candjac/index.htm

Might I suggest cleaning the small bridges first, masking them off(like painting trim),and you may want to use use a pin to put the conductive fluid on.
Allow it to dry before testing.

For some reason the above link is not responding,so here it is again. http://members.xoom.com/candjac/index.htm

You may have to hit refresh, etc.to get it going, but worth the effort.

Thanks Alfie. Just been reading too many variations on a theme and wanted to be sure before ordering the conductive pen.

Cleaning them first is an excellent idea. I have one of these silver conductive pens myself and they contain a paint, not an ink. A small dot is all you would need to do the job, so no masking is required. Make sure you allow it to fully cure before putting in use. I'd say 12 hours / over night would suffice.

BTW, 1 of these pens would do thousands of uP's and will seem like a waste of money once it's done. (so don't throw away that reciept)

            Greebe,
Your right, but I like things neat!
If you get back here,I believe that the rear defroster grid repair, found in auto supply shops would do the same thing.
            States excellent conductivity.
            What do you think?
