Win2k's ICS & BTInternet & D/L probs

Hi guys,

I use a win2k professional PC which dials up to BTInternet (0800 number) and shares this connection with the rest of the network. Well, this all works OK, apart from downloads just keep stopping randomly for no reason at all. my PC (also win2k) doesn't say that the 'connection with the server has been lost' or anything similar, it just stops with the time remaining not going down. If I look at the lights on the USR 56k ext sportster they're not doing anything.
If I cancel the download and try again, it carries on from where it left off (if it's in my cache) and will go either to the end or will stop again, and I have to cancel and try again.

Anyone any ideas? This is really bugging me!

Works fine for me although somedays it's been getting a bit slow around 9ish.
You can emailing they tech support (Auto Dummy) and get an automated response which won't be helpful.
A bit like this really.

Usualy crappy modem problems. Use a program like Getright.

Sounds like my ISP, I usually solve those kind of problems by using an external proxy.

May I also suggest to get a download manager.

Steve, I'd suggest using DU Meter for monitoring your connection/ transfers. (I use this due to the same issues you have).

I personally don't like Getright anymore, Go!zilla seems better IMO.
I'd never suggest using NS Smart DL tho. (sorry, I take this stance due to the flagrant tracking/adverts within these programs)

The PIT - yeah I know, Ive their tech support isn't great.

Thanks guys - I'll try out Greebe's suggestion of DU Meter and also getright or Go!zilla, although it is by Aureate.... (oh no!)
