  • nvidia make a big bo-bo

    Look here: http://www.riva3d.com/dvi.html

Looks like their DVI output has never worked.

    Shame on nvidia.

    Colour me shocked. Not.

And the MX is supposed to be able to drive 2 digitial flat panels, eh?

You know what I think is funny? How long has the 3D Prophet DDR been out?

I just think it's odd that this feature hasn't worked since Day 1 and people are just noticing now. Kind of makes you wonder why Guillemot even bothered. NVidia-users are clearly not breaking down doors to use it.

The 3D Prophet DDR has a DVI connector. The 3D Prophet II 32MB doesn't, although it was suppose to have one. There's even mention of it on the box, although Guillemot covered it with a label.

I suspect flat panel monitors are just too expensive for the vast majority of gamers to consider.

Strange, PC Pro mag here in the UK reviewed a ViewSonic CRT monitor with digital (DVI) input last month. They tested it with a 3D Prophet DDR-DVI and said it worked very well. And that when connected via DVI the picture was significantly better than with D-SUB.

Their card must have worked. (Well, as well as any GeForce card works ).

        Chris.

It probably could be fixed by a BIOS update, but that's not yet confirmed ..

On another note, did any of you find a review about a working Twin View yet ???

            I didn't and I really hunted for it ...

Yeah I'd noticed that too - they hype 'Twin View' up, yet none of the currently announced/available MX cards have that feature.

              bah, buy a G400

No wonder they don't worry about it. No gamer is going to use a current technoloty flat-panel, digital or not. They do not do motion well. Very blurry.

For the record, there are no released MX cards with Twinview yet. In fact, the MX cards in general have been pushed back and delayed by several weeks now.

In theory, there will be a Hercules/Guillemot twinview MX card at the end of August. In theory. Heh.

And I concur with Brian R. - I haven't seen a flat panel I'd want to play Quake3 on yet.
