Maggi - I'll bet those problems were not all independent of one another.

Anyhow - Good to see you solved them. Not an easy troubleshooting job.

I guess you're right, Brian.

Probably the loose contact within my PS was causing the initial problem and the bend pin was a result of not reinserting the ATX plug into the mobo carefully enough and upon power up that improper contact could have fried my RAM stick.

I unplugged one component after each other, i.e.

- exchanged PS ... power up ... silence

unplugged:
- CD-ROM ... power up ... silence
- HDs ... see above
- SB Live ... s.a.
- G400 ... s.a.
- both RAM sticks (now my CPU was the only thing stuck into my MoBo) ... beep ... first sign of life indicating I had no memory ...
- tested each RAM stick on its own ... got rid of faulty one
- power up ... beep beep beep ... second sign of life indicating I had no video card ...
- reseated everything back in, reconnected all drives ... power up ... bootup ... all fine again



What a hassle ...

Good job - I don't know if I could have solved that problem economically. I ususally end up replacing parts until everything works.
