I've been having a devil of a time getting Win2K ICS to work. I have several Win98SE Clients and none can connect through the Win2K box to the internet. The network is functional, with all computers being able to see one another. (Including the Win2K machine). Read Secondary machine specs for complete specs: Yes, all of these computers exist and are in my possession.
It's probably something stupid.
The Situation:
Windows 2000 Professional (w/SP1) with dual NICs (Intel 10/100 on the cable modem, Adaptec Single 64 on the LAN)
ICS is enabled on the Intel adapter, and the Adaptec has an IP address of 192.168.0.1
I did notice one odd thing: On the TCP/IP properties of the Adaptec card the "Use the Following DNS server addresses" box is checked (The Obtain DNS server address automatically button is greyed out).
I think it boils down to thisa: What DNS server address should be used?
Of course, I could be simply giddy from lack of sleep.
Any help would be appreciated, and thanks in advance.
BTW: Multimonitor works normally (i.e. like Windows 98) with more than one adapter in Win2k. The list of supported Multimonitor adapters is fairly small, however. I had to adjust a jumper on the #2 adapter to get it to work correctly in Win2K.
