PC150 n PC166 SDRAM

Norman, technically there isn't any PC150/166 on the market offically. Like the PC150 mem ALBPM purchased, it was rated for that speed only if on a BX MB. If used on a Athlon MB it's rating was reduced to PC133 specs and at CAS 3-3-3 to boot. Milage does vary when going beyond the manufactures specs and many have recieved much better results than any will claim. Your best bet is try it and post your results here for the rest of us to see.

Wow ! Can I said that no one had actually tried an PC150 or PC166 SDRAM module ?
If I were to buy one stick and try , what type of "cas" - hopefully I got the correct spelling , must I look at ? 2-2-2 or 3-3-3 or what ? Any recommendation ?

Greebe is correct the PC150 I purchased was from STEP Thermodynamics. It's PC133 that's hand selected to run up to 150MHz at CAS3.

SiSoft Sandra says it's PC133 3-3-3 at 133MHz which is pretty close to what I see while overclocking.

I also have some PC100 with Micron 8E chips on it. According to Micron's data sheet it's rated at 125MHz. SiSoft Sandra says it's PC125, 3-3-3 up to 125MHz. Although it runs nicely at CAS2 all the way up to 133MHz and CAS3 above that.

Well, I got some Muskin PC150 HSDRAM and guess what SiSoft Sandra says....


PC152, CAS2 up to 152MHz.

So far SiSoft has been really close in it's ability to ID the RAM I've tested.

It has shown the PC100- 8E Micron rated at 125MHz by Micron as PC125, CAS3 up to 125MHz.

The STEP Thermodynamics PC150 was shown as PC133, CAS3 at 133MHz.

The PC133 HSDRAM from Mushkin was shown as PC133, CAS3 up to 133MHz.

The PC150 HSDRAM from Mushkin was shown as PC152, CAS2 at 152MHz

I did some more reasearch and Greebe is still correct.

SiSoft Sandra only reads the SPD chip on the DIMM modules.

Here is the news story on the PC150 HSDRAM. It is just a better PC133 module.
