  • Direct3D acceleration problems with a laptop

I've been talking to Kindness a bit about a problem a friend of his is having with a game on an IBM ThinkPad. The laptop appears to be fairly well endowed, with a 550Mhz processor, 18GB hard drive, and 128MB of memory- but he gets loads of weird errors when he tries to play games with it (mainly UT). The laptop uses an ATI video chip (I know it's not a Matrox card, but they don't make laptop chipsets that I know about yet, hehe).

Has anyone else here ever seen this problem before, and if so, have you figured out how to correct it, or is he stuck running in software mode?

    Thx.

ATI's have problems running in 16 bit, tell him to try 32 bit.

Thanks for the tip, Rags. I'll pass it on and see what that does for him.
