  • OC your Duron/Thunderbird with a pencil!

    http://amdzone.pcstats.com/messagevi...threadid=20263

I guess it should work just fine, these aren't high current bridges or anything.

    ------------------
    MSI-6167 w/ Athlon 500@750 (thx Greebe!), 128MB Crucial PC133, G400MAX,SBLive!-MP3,Pioneer 10x DVD, Phillips CD-R, a hard drive or two, and a Sony 420GS. Running RH6.1, and Win98 (when I have to).

Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

    Now you tell me!
Another alternative,is using the little grid repair(rear defroster-automotive)kit available at any auto supply place.Comes with a stencile that if lined up with the bridge works well!

Damn AMD! They've beaten Intel again, this time with a "locked" CPU that requires nothing more than one of the most primitive data storage tools most people own to overclock.

You still need a motherboard with multiplier setting, or hack the socket.

Hack it with what? A pencil sharpener?

                  SteveC,

Actually, you could take the blade out of a pencil sharpener and use that to cut the traces on the mb.

Don't forget the pencil rubber if you need to send it back.

Does that last post mean that it didn't work?

Just got done rebuilding my dad's system with a Abit KT7 and a Duron 700. Did the pencil trick (using a magnifying glass), and now running at 800 (could go higher, but I have a problem with his system being faster than mine...hehe).

Also stuck in a GeForce2 MX. Damn...where the hell is my G800 - that MX looks pretty damn good
