Well, I got my Dell P1110 monitor today. The good news is, it works fine. I'm having no problems with the geometry or anything, and the color looks good. However, right now I've got it hooked up to a Voodoo3 2000, running it at 1600x1200x32bitx85hz, and the text, while not terrible, isn't as crisp as I'd like. Of course I'm hoping for an improvement when (if?) I get that g800.

I was wondering if anyone have any experience with the 2D quality of a Voodoo3 2000? Is it generally pretty good? In other words, is this the best my monitor can do, or will it get better with a Matrox card?

BTW, thanks for all the advice. Sounds like Iiyama would've been a good bet if I hadn't found such a good price on this one.

Just remember, any Sony Tube WILL have 2 lines that split the screen into thirds horivontally....

These are the Aperature Grill Lines, and are part of the design. I will never own a Sony Tube based monitor, until they find anouther way of holding up the grill or start using a Shadow Mask.

I just got my Hitachi CM715 in and it rocks!
.22mm Dot Pitch, 1600x1200@75Hz, under $400 to my door... Very crisp and clear. Also, shadow mask, so NO DAMN LINES

I agree that those lines on the Sony monitors bothered me too ... at first. You don't seem to notice them after using them a while. I still prefer the color saturation of my old NEC 5FG to any monitor I've seen though I haven't critically looked at monitors the last couple of years. I don't think this NEC will ever give up and I'll just have to figure out how to make more desk space for a 21" monitor (use 13" TV as second monitor now).

a dog i can second puals coment , the v3 2000 has a bad 2d desktop compared to both the g200 and g400, (i have all 3 cards runing in computers) cant wait untill the g800 so i can dumo the v3 2000 card
and run all matrox...... so yes your monitor will look better on a matrox card. color will get better two the v3 is washed out looking next to a g200 never mind the g400.....(you might wqant to consider one of the g400 non dual headd cards to hold you over till the g800 is released....
