Reinstalling Windows is not a big deal. I just want to avoid having to transfer the HD and back-up all the data, etc.

I may be stupid and just buy another BE6-2 to minimize the headaches...

Wooks wike I killed the poor wittle Dowun. At least I hope it's the Duron and not the mobo. I thought the processor was not being cooled properly so I took it off the mobo, cleaned it and the HS of all HS compound, applied a better helping of HS compound and put it back in. No video, no beep, the HD spins up but that's it. Thinking of sending back both mobo and processor and buying another 700 Duron and a KT7-RAID. I loved the speed increase which was quite noticeable in UT and Fifa2000. Want to test mobo and processor before sending them back though. Problem is there is no one I know who owns a Duron.

Duron/Abit alive aliiivve I tell you. Stripped mobo down to naked G400 only, no HDs or anything else except system speaker. Started up. Added back cards one by one, still works. Still seems to be overheating. I think the thermistor may be reading low. It behaves strangely at 50 deg. C, under both 98 and 2000 locking up. Of course this may be because I did not reinstalleither OS. I can burn AudioCDs under BeOS still though. I'd like a better air cooling solution than what I currently have. Going to buy 3 case fans today and look for a better CPU fan than the one I have. I don't trust the system enough yet to run seti on it and that's a shame.

my tyan w/via chipset makes that noise if I try to change boot sector with virus enabled in bios.
It also made that noise when the cpu fan went dead and chip overheated (with temp mon. off)

Paul, this is some sort of database someone needs to maintain. I don't know about your BIOS, but my sounds are pretty much undocumented. Maybe your's are published somewhere? Award is unstandardized wrt BIOS beep codes.
