  • Upgraded PIII from 500 to 800 now.....

Hi guys, I just upgraded form a PIII 500 to an 800EB. I used Unreal to see the performance improvements, unfortunately there was not much and the video became real jerky. I do the time on the opening segment and using DirectX it has jerky playback. Numbers are up from 29 to 35 at 1024x768. However, when I use the OpenGL API it goes to over 40. I am using the latest Beta drivers and Windows ME. It did the same thing using the latest Beta drivers and WHOL drivers under Windows 2000 Pro. I changed OS's thinking that may be causing it.

    Well my questions are:
    1. Is it normal for the OpenGL driver to run faster on Unreal than DirectX with a G400?

    2. Could it be the new faster processor at fault here?

    3. Are 35 fps DX and 40 fps GL at 1024x768 normal speeds for a system such as mine (specs in signature)?

    Thanks, JP
