Drives reported as Generic Type 47

    On some motherboards it doesn't work right with Autoinsert notification enabled. Works fine with VA503+ and Abit KT7 though. Didn't with i810 Quantex machine.
    The 10 GB Maxtors did 56.8 on the i810 mobo though

      If you have VIA chipset and install their drivers, you'll see your drive with correct name.
      With win98 default hdc driver, names are not there.
      Make sure check box is set for dma in your drives' properties to get max speed.
      My tyan 1598s wont get >22mbps although the same hd got 53mbps when attached to a fic 503a+ mb.

      I'd love someone to figure this one out

          Probably a BIOS issue if you're board's supposed to support UDMA/66 but doesn't. My old Epox MVP3G5 wouldn't do UDMA/66 until Epox released a new BIOS fixing the problem.
