  • Just ordered a Duron..

    Selling the K6-3 400 + Epox MVP3-G2 for $230 CDN and buying a Duron 600 + ChainTech 7AJA + Chrome Orb for $336 $CDN COD to the door.
    http://www.chaintech.com.tw/PRODUCTI...cketA/7AJA.htm

One review mentioned cpu multiplier dip switches, but I am not counting on that. If all comes to all, 600MHz is fine, and there is always bus overclocking so I might be able to get up to 700MHz anyway.

    Should be interesting..

If the Duron is pencil overclockable go for it. Don't expect to go much over 110 FSB. That beig said, you will experience a significant speed increase. No way I'm ever going back near socket 7 again. Even at 600 (underclocked) my Duron feels much faster. I still haven't reformatted my drive and both win98se and win2k gave no problems. errr I'm only at AGP 2X with either the G400 SH or DH.
The chrome orb seems to be a good cooler. I now also run cpuidle, when not running seti. Also NEVER run the Duron without HS and fan, it WILL DIE

              Are you sure it's dead?
I thought I had killed my Duron at one stage. Oh yeah, I have an IN-WIN Q500. Bought it last year in anticipation of going Athlon. Excellent case.

Just got the board today, took a while, the truckers in Canada had a bit of a slowdown complaining about gas prices. Total was actually $386 CDN, the guy didn't quote the tax in the email he sent me, just the shipping. Sorry for the confusion.

So far so good, haven't reinstalled Windows yet, but everything seems to work. Southbridge isn't a 'b' so no ATA 100 and the twin bios thing is out, they left off the second bios chip. Other than that, it's as advertised. Chrome Orb is huge, thought it was smaller from the picture.

Other than that, bought a new vcr, and spent too much money on parts from Digi-key.
