  • How to oc a Duron on a MB without multiplier-settings?

    Hi,
I think I saw a well described step-by-step guide to do this (see title) somewhere on the net, but I can't seem to find it anymore

Anyone knows the necessary things or a GOOD link (understandable for the not-so-very-expert reader) for this?

There you go again, promoting that (whoa, almost said it!)

I did it with my board, it will vary from board to board. You basically tap 8 points on the mb and cut 2-4 traces. You probably have to reconnect the L1 bridges and use a pencil to set the voltage using the L7 bridges.

I posted what I did and some reference links here in this thread:

Hey Himself, for someone who once claimed not to be much of a forum poster you get around quite a bit

Shouldn't MBM 5 work as a monitor. It supports the Via686 chipset and agrees with the via hardware monitor, and is just cooler

I'm not, it's just that chaintech links to their site as a source of recommendation so I made sure to make the facts about the mb known there.

              EDIT:

I use a different program, mbprobe, same deal, easier to use, I verified the temp with the bios.

                Thanks, very informative.
Yo do not happen to know if it's possible (and how) on a DFI AK74SC?

The circuit layout of each motherboard model is different, I don't have that motherboard, so I can't give you specifics, and even if I did I would need a scan of the motherboard to show you where each trace was. Hard to scan your motherboard when you have it in your case running your computer.

The only thing that will be different is if the board has traces accessible for soldering and cutting. If you want solder points, get a continuity tester, ring out the socket and look around, it's really not that difficult.
