  • An annoying WinMedia Player 7 bug?

    Hello!

Whenever I insert a music CD, the icon on the desktop changes but Win Media Player does not automatically start.
I am not able to individuate the exact moment since this strange behaviour occured.
I can only say that in CD properties notify function is enabled, hence I think this problem could be related to registry.

Could someone please give me some hints?

    Thanks in advance.

    Ciao.

I note that you have a sb live & wonder if your default cd player is playcenter as oppossed to WMP.

      Wow, fast reply!
      Thanks a lot Ayoub_Ibrahim!

I have Liveware 3.0 for WinMe.

The funny thing is that I can't remeber (I'm not at home now) if I have Playcenter installed! Obvously I will check.

Anyway do you know if there's a related string in registry where I could browse?

      Thanks again.

I'm still with win98 but nevertheless if you have playcenter then look in control panel/disc detector or double click the disc detector icon in taskbar & see if playcenter is your default player.

You could right click on my computer and explore then click tools>folder options>file types and associate audioCD and CDA with the app of your choice and set the default action to play. One of problems with WinMe was that I no longer had access to the old CDPlayer that can play continuously across tracks if there is no break between the tracks. Wmplayer.exe does NOT do this. This was not why it became the first MS OS upgrade to be uninstalled of a machine I own. I removed Me because it was causing ny machine to hand intermittently. I didn't have the problem before or after removing Me, only during, nuff said. I would have found a CDPlayer that does what it should eventually

            Thanks to everybody!!!!!!!!!!

In file type I've found out that Power Dvd (latest version) has messed up things.
Now the problem is restoring the situation (uninstalling Power Dvd did not work).

            Ciao
