Intel is already in trouble:
"Rambus Threatens Intel
Judging from a recent Rambus conference call, tis the season to be... bold. In one statement made during the call, Geoff Tate, CEO of the chip connection creator, warned Intel boss Craig Barrett that he could be in for trouble if Intel builds a chip enabling DDR SDRAM to be used with the Pentium 4 if that interface infringes Rambus patents. Intel plans to release a DDR chipset for the P4, in addition to an SDRAM one, in the second half of 2001. But Rambus claims it has not granted Intel the right to use its SDRAM and DDR patents, though it has given Intel limited rights to use its patents in logic chips as long as it does not include a memory interface. Intel has not responded to the legal posturing."

Intel seem's to have laid out a trap and fallen in it themselves!
This could mean that Rambus has lost their one biggest friend!
News Bulletin:
Rambus HQ has been flatted out by an enourmous amount of Intel 820/840 Mainboards and RDRAM Rimms.
Intel spokesman says:
We (Intel) needed to drop that product line and that was the perfect spot.
We have not been able to reach Rambus for an intervue. If there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.
