Nvidia probably didn't announce 6.34's because they probably don't care or don't wanna confuse. I have a feeling that the 7.xx will be released very soon.....

      Good point bastioned.

Actually, as cheezed as I get about zealots here in this forum, I must admit, most other forums are much, MUCH worse. I have no doubt, if I were to ask my question on an nVidia forum, a good 2/3's of the responses would be in the form of hax0r's speech <shudder> and insulting rhetoric.

'Course, it's been a while since we've seen an big step forward from Matrox, so maybe that's cooled people's tempers and held a few tongues, as well.

Or perhaps it's the title of this thread. I'm sure it must have turned away the crazier members of this forum, the title having left them content that Matrox's supremacy was left unchallenged.

p.s. Thanks DosFreak for the link. I'm a downloadin' as I type.

Stupid question, but do the Quadro's use the same driver set as the GeForce's? I'm assuming so, but I'd rather find out otherwise before I take a soldering iron to my new GeForce2...

I for sure agree with you, C=64.
It was about time for us all to calm down and stop using the "fire first, ask after" method , and instead welcome the diversity of opinions . It´s not Nvidia´s fault that Matrox doesn´t release a new and revolutionary card at the same time they do, don´t blame them, just wait patiently for the new things from Matrox to come, and if they don´t, choose another. After all, it´s only a graphics card, not your future wife ( if applicable ).

Please let me know your opinions, with the help of you all we have to stop this non-stop nonsense and welcome the common sense.

              and yet again

Woha... here we go again. We see those massive performance drops again, although FAKK2 is based on the Quake3 Engine and we did not see those drops in the original game. I can´t give you a real explanation why this happens. We should ask NVIDIA´s coders what is going on here. It seems that v6.49 has some major bugs in the OpenGL part - or it simply uses a bad default driver setting that I did not recognize yet.

This time you don´t hear any hypes or recommendations to use v6.49. My advise is: Do not use v6.49! These drivers have a pretty bad OpenGL performance. A GeForce 2 Ultra falls under a v6.31 driven 32MB GTS in the games MDK2 and FAKK2. Also no advantages in FSAA with the new drivers.

I've been testing and writing about the NEDs for a while, and I didn't see the speed decreases Borsti saw. I tested them on three different systems with a GeForce2 GTS, a GeForce DDR, and a TNT2 Ultra. I thought they were pretty fast and stable--the most stable I've seen since 6.34.

They didn't help much with the GTS, but I saw a nice little speed increase with the TNT2U and they ended my UT problems with the DDR on a Slot A TBird/KA7-100.

I had serious problems with the 6.47 set. I couldn't even run OpenGL games with them and the TNT2U. UT on the KA7-100 was a nightmare.

I'll probably keep using 6.34 with the GTS, but it's 6.49 for the DDR and the TNT2U.

I'm wondering if Borsti is using the Hercules Ultra. Also he used DirectX 7a and I used DirectX 8. I didn't test FSAA either.
