did you end up buying the cheese box?
i have been looking at rca/svhs to vga converters to use with the 28" monitor i recently got (which i have running nicely at 1024 x 768 now thanks to power desk and editing monitor configs )and the darn cheese box seems to be the cheapest.

so i was wondering if you got it and were happy with it.

I picked up an even cheaper one, a VGA-801 at http://www.mat-co.com/ for $69. Had to shorten the video cable and add some vent holes over the power transformer though.
Quality of the video on the monitor is great though, well GIGO but with a good signal it looks great. Audio part is just a cable converter with passive passthrough filters, I wouldn't factor that in.
