  • A7V Temperature Tweak!!!!

    First read this Tweak:
    http://members.tripod.de/Juggernaut/wpcrset/index.htm

    And then look this one in the same site:
    http://pub26.ezboard.com/fjuggernautshardwarefrm1

    I got my A7V v1.02 with 1005A bios from 48C-->39C when i'm idle!!!!!!!!!!

    Just enabled PCI Master Read caching if you get Sound problems.
    Also don't use the Asus Probe(crap soft) just use Sandra 2001 to check temperatures.

    Well I went from 48 to 39 degrees celcius when idle, just like with the older bios.

    The only question I have left is why this is possible! If the new reading is correct, why did asus deliberately(?) make the change from bios v1003? Could it be that the new reading is incorrect while the higher one was correct??? Did amd persuade asus to make a higher temp-reading to discourage overclocking??

    If anyone has any ideas I would like to hear them

      My GlobalWin FOP32-1 heatsink is running now at 4400rpm instaid of 4563 and if I touch the heatsink i can feel it is cooler than before.Right now i'm running at 29C case temp and 37C CPU temp in idle and i'm not using right now my extra 80mm fan on the back of the case.
      I remarked that when i'm starting a program i can hear more clearly the instand increase of speed on my CPU fan than before but that's normal.
      And don't forget that the Built-in temp-sensor in the A7V v1.02 and up has a higher CPU temp reading of +7C ....

        Try this and it seems than the bios 1004 and up don't use the HLT command of the CPU.

          Some people are apparently having a performancehit with ata100 drives when using this hack, but since I dont have such a hdd I cant check this myself.

            I don't know if it's a HDtach bug but i'm getting a burst speed from 80MB+ to 70MB when i'm using to Tweak. That's about the same we i'm using the tweaked ATA100 1003e3 Bios from Juggernaut't site.

              Very strange...with an FOP38, my idle temp has been below 40c with all versions of the BIOS I've tried (1004c, 1004d, 1004f, 1005a) on my A7Pro.
              Anyone care to hazard a guess as yo what that may mean?

                Doesn't make any since unless the BIOS is preventing NT or Win2000 for issueing the HLT command, I always understood that the HLT was an OS function. Asus' BIOS' have never been reliable for temp, mine is +10C from what MBM4 shows.
