    IE5 bug?

    There's this very annoying problem with my IE install in Win2k: no matter what I set my max. cache size to, it just goes over that size and grows until the whole disk is full... I am not absolutely sure what makes it go over the max. size I specify, but it seems to happen when I download a file that is larger than the amount of space that is left for IE to use for internet cache.

    And can someone tell me why IE first downloads a file (save target operation) to the cache, and then copies it to the target dir you specified, even if that's on the same drive?????? I don't get it... even if MS wants to put it in the cache folder first, at least MOVE it to the destination in stead of copying!

    LOL! These are just 2 of the reasons that I use Netscape. Despite the problems that it has, IE is worse.

      Heheh, yes, IE is just dandy, I don't know what I even have my cache enabled, it never uses it.

        I noticed this bug when the cache was taking up 400 megabyts of my 4.5GB hdd.... OUCH!

        however, I dislike Netscape a lot, and I don't mind emptying the cache every 3 weeks (when it exceeds the 100MB limit)

          Is it any different with IE5.5? I've not noticed it with my machine, but I've got a 30Gb and a 20Gb drive with plenty free, so maybe I'm a bad example! (I use 5.01 btw)
