  • 3D Glass questions

I'm thinking about getting the ASUS V7700 Deluxe which includes a 3D glass. That's the only thing I'm interested in the Deluxe version. Is it worth the purchase?
Does it work with UT (my favourite game) and Quake 3? If it does, how good is it?
Any comment would be greatly appreciated.

      3d glass*ES*

Using proper english (or at least an attempt at) will make it easier for you to convey your question, surgv.

Unforunately, I don't have a product that can support them, so I guess someone else will have to answer

Maggi has these which work with all 3D cards.

Pace they work by displaying to different perspectives and when displayed, the shutter glasses alternate with the display to the corresponding eye. To use these your monitor must be be able to do 120hz refresh, 60 for each view. So instead of it being 3D with the illusion of depth, with this technology you are immersed into the playing field.

Do a search, Maggi has mentioned these on a few occasions in Matrox Gaming.

As Greebe already mentioned, I use I-Art's 4in1 wireless Eye3D shutter glasses ...

I posted a thread about how they actually work:
            http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/Forum4/HTML/004232.html

and here'a another threads about that topic:
            http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/Forum4/HTML/004136.html

            Now about compatibility ...

Although they (I-Art) claim they'd support all three APIs (D3D, Glide & OpenGL), I wasn't able to run any OpenGL based game as of yet !

At least all D3D games run like a charme ...

UT (in D3D) for example lets you peek around a corner with one eye, while the other eye only sees the front egde, due to two separately rendered perspectives.

NFS (High Stakes & Porsche Unleashed) are a lot better handable because of a real depth perception, i.e. you get a lot better feeling for speed and distances. Thus your timings for braking and evasive actions are much closer to the point.

Pro Skater 2 is a real killer game when run in conjunction with those glasses.
Just imagine, you're doing the half-pipe and it doesn't look flat as usual, but you can feel the height you're flying at ...

Feel free to ask, if you wanna no more.

            Cheers,
            Maggi

Thanks Maggi and all who responsed. I was right to choose the Pure version because my monitor is a cheap one, it can't go above 60 Mhz at 800x600. I think the 3D glasses will be useless.
Anyway, here is my first "impression" with new Auss V7700. The driver came with the card could not detect it and refused to install the driver!!!!! First hell.
I then went to Nvidia's website to get the driver. The driver extracted from the ZIP could not run too. Second hell. Then tried the exe file and it finally worked!! A bit happy.
First game to run was UT. Could not start the game in Full Screen in D3D mode. OpenGL worked but too dark...
Ok removed UT completely and reinstalled it again. Now it worked. The problems raised again. The scenes are just too dark to see at 1024x768.
Here is the most frustrating problem. Geforce 2 GTS is supposed to dilevere a superior performance. I think it's only true that it's more superior than my G200, at least in my own experience!! The highest FPS is really impresive. However, it sometimes drops down to an unplayable level.. This is really sh*t with Ge2 GTS. During gameplay, my screen froze many times, Somtimes it last for 1 seconds, sometimes a minute!!!! What the heck is going on with my card?
              3D Mark 2000 score: 3455 with P3 600E !!!!
              Haven't tried Quake 3 though..
Can someone here gives me some suggestion?

That is one of the cards I have. It is a nice card if you want speed, simple video programs included, and the glasses.

The only thing there worth anything is the glasses. My accuracy increased as a result. That part of your brain that does normal 3D steroscpic, yadda yadda yadda takes over instead of actually having to consciously thinking about distance. It will increase both your accuracy and reaction time.

These glasses usually use a refresh rate of 100 or 120 hz. Make sure your monitor can do this or you will get a triple, yes I said triple, image. Twice as many frames are rendered. You see them and a somewhat weak 3d image.

If you have a G400Max, I would recommend the seperate glasses as it has more than enough power to keep up with the increased framerates and of course the quality.

I did get UT to work and even Star Trek Armada, but my monitor was not good enough and had to stop before the triple image started to affect me. It should "theoretically" work with any D3D and OpenGL games assuming they work in the first place with the card.

You might be better off getting a better monitor before worrying about updating your video card. All the better if you can upgrade both. You could get yourself a good monitor now and buy the card/glasses combo later or even buy the latest, yet to be released graphics card.
