One thing I have noticed you nVidiots always seem to be leaving out lately is the fact that nVidia is behind schedule, especially since they were touting this 6 month product cycle. I wonder if they are having difficulty getting the thing done, and they really aren't ahead of the game like everyone seems to think.

You're quite right Rags, the way i see it the NV20 should have released last september, instead of the Gf2 ultra.

But if the rumors are true and the nv20 chip needs to built at 0.15 micron to keep the size of it reasonable because of all the extra features that have been added, but aparently TMSC(the company who makes their chips),wasn't ready to build it at that size back then.

According to X-box top brass, nvidia started shipping updated dev kits with nv20 cards, to game developers in december.

The demos that we saw when microsoft unveiled the what the retail version of the x-box,were aparently running on one of those dev kits in realtime.

        Malice looked awsome BTW...

        note to self...

Assumption is the mother of all f***ups....

From what I heard, they haven't even had product to gold yet, much less even get the manufacturing specs out yet (as of last month).

The reason the Ultra was released is more and more reasoned now.

            Can you say Memory-bottleneck problem
They don't really like the idea of making a product(NV20) that's only 5~10% faster than the GF2Ultra....or maybe it will be only so much faster
Except of the much faster T&L engine of the NV20 I see no other improvement.

7 times faster than an ultra...

                That's funny... .

In reality though,i'll give Nvidia the benefit of the doubt and say that it'll be about 30 to 50 % faster than the Gf2 ultra in current games.

This is assuming that the card supports some form of vertex compression as well as using a rudementary form of occlusion detection(HSR).

In games that are built with dx 8 from the ground up,the card should be quite a bit faster than that, because it has the hardware support built in.

But that i'll take at least 12 to 18 months for games to really start pushing the limit's on the card,so there's no rush... .

Well-known internet publications have stated that the NV20 will be about 7 times faster than the Ultra at high resolution/color depths.

That's what I'm looking forward to! 320fps at 1600x1200@32bit. No way in hell that the Minimum FPS will dip below 70

Can't find the link right now, but I believe it was ZDNet that stated such a thing...
