As far as mobos go, the new Abit VP6 (I *think* thats the model) looks promising. Dual FCPGA, ATA100/RAID, VIA chipset (which scares me a little). If you opt for dual CPUs and an IDE RAID setup, this board looks ideal. Here's a review: http://www.overclockersonline.be/ind...rticles&num=48

Did anybody forget that he was on a budget and the fastest CPU is the Athlon, wich also happens to be a CPU that gives a big bang for the buck.

An Athlon 1GHz costs the same as a PIII 733MHz. No further comments on the CPU choice.

I would choose a board from MSI. They are the most stable ones.

If you want a good screen and you are on a budget. Get the 19" NEC FE950. It´s a flat trinitron ( I think they call it Diamondtron)with wonderful colors, did I forget to say it´s sharp to. If you have a larger budget get a Sony G400, a wonderful screen, although it is quite dark.

Don´t get Intel it´s not worth the money. And the crap that Intel CPU:s are more reliable than AMD is just hoax. The Athlon is a wonderful CPU. Intel is only a choice if you are going to buy a dual CPU system.

No, no one forgot about AMD cpus, look at his first post. He says his boss wants an Intel CPU, not AMD. I can't say that I disagree with his boss for the most part.

Let's not forget about a great little performer... The ABIT BX133-RAID...

Dual ATA-100 RAID using the Highpoint 370 RAID Controller, plus dual UDMA-33 Intel BX controller... AGP is only 2X, but with a 133Mhz CPU, the AGP bus is 89Mhz anyway...

(Not OC'ing the CPU, and the G400/G450's don't mind this at all)

                  Love that board....
