  • No sound when waking up from standby

Every time I hit the power button to put my machine into standby and then later wake it up with spacebar or mouse, I get no sound. From any source, CD, wave, game, whatever. Everything else works great tho. Played a whole game of Team Attrition in Mech4 with no sound once to see if all else was fine. Re-boot fixes it everytime. But if I wanted to (re)start my computer, I would shut it down, not put it in standby. What gives?

What MX300 drivers are you using (Diamond or Aureal)? Looks like you're using WinME judging by your sig. Diamond never updated their drivers for WinMe (or anything else that matter) so I doubt they support standby mode. Aureal ..., well, that's a sad story.

Latest Aureal Vortex reference drivers(i think) ver 4.06.2048, dated 02-18-00. From control panel, system, sound video etc,Vortex Au8830 PCI audio, driver details. The diamond ones weren't as good and 3 years old. But they did work properly in Xwing Alliance with 3Dsound enabled.

        Been there done that...

The Aureal drivers will not let the au8830-based cards wake from standby when running WinME. A fact of life. You can live with it, disable standby, or shop for a new card...or even reload Win98SE like I did But don't waste time trying to fix it, 'cause you can't.
