New Asus A7V bios ver 1006 out!

All I have read since it was released was that it totally screwed up the system, and no one (that I know of) has been able to get it to work.

Ok I just read that Asus has re-released the 1006 bios, and I have read several reports of successful flashing - Ill wait a few days before flashing my bios again.

Me too. i had flashed my bios using the 1006 and my system posted but refused to boot into windows. i was able to work around it luckily as i was able to boot up with a floppy and reflashed 1005c, know anyone successful with 1006?

No but like Steve I am running the 1002a.1 KT133A BIOS on my A7V without any problems.

I would reccomend the A7V133 Bios.. Mines run fantastic since I took the risk to flash it!!

I'm still running that A7V133 BIOS on my A7v (non 133) and it's running 100% perfect!!

Steve, you almost have me convinced to upgrade. I'm hoping that the 1006 BIOS will have similar effects as the 133 BIOS.

Just wanted to say that asus has released a new version of the disastrous v1006.

Some sites still have the old version so it is extremely important to check when your biosfile was released.
15.02.2001: The bios from hell
16.02.2001: A new working version, which apparently is quite good.

I was lucky enough not to flash the currupt 1006 bios (as I am a kind of flashaholic with motherboard bios). I still find unnaceptable that a company like Asus posts a currupt bios on a public ftp. They were quick to fix it, but many users had screwed their systems by that time.

About the 1002 KT133A bios, I´ve not tried it, but this new 1006 A7V is something to talk about. 148Mhz (3-3-3) with memory settings agressive enough to give almost 600 Mb/S sustained fpu memory bandwidth is something that find amazing with a stick of generic cas3 PC133 256 Mb Sdram. And that´s a boost of almost 40 Mb/sec from the previous 1005D bios. Here:



So I now have a 998.69 Mhz Thunderbird (close enough to 1 Ghz, don´t you think) with a 222 Mhz fsb and a 148 Mhz memory bus) with a default 1.75 v. I´m kind of proud having this board

Sadly enough, I can only run the G400 at AGP1x. Tryed with diferent memory and all, even at default settings, it always currupts 2d display or lock up games, either in winMe ir win2k. But who cares, I can live with 0.6 fps less in quake 3 (Yes, thats the diference between AGP2x and 1X for all out there whining about not getting AGP4x and so )
