  • Corrupt registry keys that won't delete.

This is under win2k but I suppose it applies to win9x. Okay a program fails to remove all it's registry entries so you go in and try to delete them manually and you get the following error message. Cannot read registry value cannot delete key. If you try to modify the value you just get cannot read registry value.
I tried Norton windoctor on it and it says everything is fine. I hadn't tried regclean on it but from past experiances from similar problems it won't work.
So can you export the registry edited it under notepad then re-import it or is there another easy way on deleting these undeletable keys. Or would this screw up?
Oh yes I was in as administrator before anyone asks.

I have not idea if this will work or not, but it can't hurt to try.

Use regedt32 instead of regedit. It's the other registry editor. Nominally speaking it's primary use is setting access permissions on keys, but it can be used to edit values as well.

I'll give it spin when I'm next bashing the machine in question.
