Elsa GeForce2 GTS & Quake II

Selling some of my upgrade takeoffs to a friend so's I can buy more stuff....

Anyway, he wanted the Elsa GeForce2 GTS 32MB card, and it's on my old P3B-F with a P III 450, 128MB RAM, fresh install of Win98.

I can't get Quake II to run in OGL, will only run in software. Tried all the OGL options in Quake II. Quake III runs OK though. Using the 6.50 nVidia drivers. So what am I missing?

The fact that this is a Matrox site and not too many people here may know anything about the nVidia cards.

BTW: Quake II runs great on my G400 and G450.

Use the 5.33 drivers, I had zero problems performance wise with them. Visual quality...well you already know about that, so just uninstall the drivers using your control panel/add-remove hardware, and then install the 5.33.

Also, make sure you are running DX8 with the 6.x drivers.

Well Joel, have picked up on a few threads that there are a few here who have dabbled with the beast. Tried posting on an Athlon/nVidia type forum but got no hits. Could have been cause all the words were spelled correctly though... or maybe Quake II is too old a game, I don't know.

Thanks Rags! Will give it a whirl so's I can deliver it and get paid. And yes, I see for myself now what everyone has been saying is true.

I would have liked to sell him my G400MAX but then what would I do until the hush card is out. Buy a Jaton?

DX 8.0 was in though I didn't know you needed them with the 6.50 drivers.

Good deal.

I would sway away from the 6.x drivers for now, most seem to have some issues in both OGL and D3D.
