I'll try it at work first. Doesn't matter if that pc gets trashed.

well, it's installed. My PC forgot was DNS was all about, but a quick router reboot and an ipconfig /renew fixed that (I run win2k)

When I find out what's different to IE5.5 and IE6 (apart from I now have a 'Personal Bar' button) I'll let you know

have they fixed the missing media player previews?. when you click once on a media file the mini player no longer appears on the lefthand side with earlier builds.

Yes, me too IE5.5 has some terrible annoying bug, something like if the connection droped I couldn´t reconnect without rebooting the system. Pretty sad.

I had to install win2k 2 times in a row - 1 to prove that it was really IE 5.5 that was causing it, the other to get rid of 5.5

had the same problem with 5.5, turns out it was some wee program that zonealarm was stopping. at some point za popped up a " do you want **** to act as a server or something & i clicked no + remember this setting etc... 3letter something, can't remember what.

i let it access & problem went.

I had a small problem with IE 5.5 too. Instead of displaying only most frequent visited websites in Favourites, it displays the whole thing... uninstalled it and went back to IE 5.01. Just installed IE 5.01 SP 2 now.

If anything, it makes you realise just quite how far IE's reach spreads through Windows...

dont see alot of differences except for some new buttons up there
seems to start up faster and run faster in general.
applause for microsoft: it is no problem switching from 5.5 to 6, it remembers all settings. although i know this is the least they can do, they didnt a couple of years back. guess all that competition is starting to work
