  • Great Personal FireWall named TermiNet

This little proggy comes from www.dsenet.com and you can get it as a 30 day demo version to begin with.
I have a flatrate cablemodem and i didn't have the faintest idea about the many different ip's constantly contacting my modem. One of them was a Motorola surfboard startup diagnostic page ???? which accessed my cable modem every time the computer boots ????? I didn't know that and it doesn't say so in any of the surfboard manuals.
That was just one example of weird ip's talking to my cable modem without me knowing about it ... luckily none of the ip's monitored so far are malicious in any way.
Hmmm a block window with IP 199.172.144.36 keeps popping up ... guess what it's from MatchLogic Test server never heard about it...........

It's more amazing when you look at the number of ports available. Try working out which ones you need just for internet access ftp and downloading/uploading emails.
http://happywhacker.com/portlists.html is good place to start testing your firewall. It doesn't test them all mind you you have to pay for that.

Here's a good place to test out your security. Do the tests as they come up. With ZA on max, all is as good as it gets. On medium it is still very good.

Quite right it has gone. But the name happywhacker sounds like a porno site so they probably moved or gave up altogether.

I'll second that Guru. I've always used ShieldsUp and, not unexpectedly, my corporate firewall blocks all attacks (and games too ).
