  • Looking for a Really Good Commercial News Server

My current ISP, as well as my last, use Supernews. Supernews isn't bad, but retention on the abm* hierarchy is lousy: two days, three days tops. I'm somewhat dependant on the multimedia groups, because I don't get UPN or the WB, so I end up downloading a lot of really big files. In addition, my ISP has made it clear that USENET is not a priority. In fact, it appears they may give it even less emphasis in the future.

Retention is important. Reliability -- not randomly dropping parts of files as so many servers do -- is particularly important.

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

You can try Easynews for 3 days for free. I'm trying them out right now and they seem pretty good (getting good 'high speed' connection).

Their plan is 10 bucks (US) for 6 gigs or one month (whichever comes first.
