That review also shows that the 1.2GHz Athlon is better than the 1.5GHz P4 and cost less to boot.

Intel will cut p4 prices in half, but that won't make them boards and rambust cheaper

But why does Tom's state there are no drivers for win2k? Seems they don't have the best developer relations

        No win2k drivers. Sure.

Apart that, a simple but good review for what TH was doing lately.

Isn't Kyro that sweet syrupy stuff that's used to make peanut brittle?

Yeah, that's some good brittle making sheeite.

Oh, and the P4 may not be as fast as the Athlon reviewed there, but it doesn't corrupt data and uses real AGP

Buy an AMD chip and spend a year setting it up! Hey you always liked to tinker with your system... with AMD you'll have to! Ain't it great!

Someday, we'll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject.

I put together a test system with an Abit KT7A (no RAID, Windows 98, VIA 4in1 4.25a), and I have to say, it was the most uneventful install in history of motherboard upgrades. First, I tried it with a 800 MHz Duron, then a 1.2 GHz Athlon, and then I ripped out and replaced all the components, and I still haven't seen anything remotely wrong with the board.

I was supposed to write a review about the board, but I couldn't think of anything to say about it. In fact, I haven't written anything since I installed it. It's cursed!

Yeah, give me a break. If you know what you're doing, then setting up an Athlon is no problem. Hell, I migrated my HD from a K6-III+ 600 SS7 system to a 1GHz Athlon (no formatting) without any problems.

Sorry, but I refuse to buy overpriced Rambust memory, especially when the company thinks it invented sdram (sounds like al gore inventing the internet).

AMD just gave an award to matrox, see it on their homepage.

RDRAM is overpriced?! It's selling for approximately the same price as DDR...

That is, if you consider a 2:1 ratio approximately the same. If I go to Pricewatch I can find 128MB of generic Samsung 800MHz RDRAM for $115+$10 shipping. Or, I can go to Crucial and get 256MB of PC2100 DDR for $115, with free FedEx.

Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.
