I have four IBM 75GXP's (two 30GB and two 45GB) in two RAID 0's on a Promise FastTrak100 controller. Prior they were on an onboard HPT370 controller.

Life is good, and quiet, even in the "noisy" mode. 1024 ATTO bench numbers in Win2000 are 61,008/72,246.

The funniest hdd failure I have ever encountered was a WD caviar that for some reason refused to tranfer data faster than 2 MB per minute!!!

It took 30 minutes to boot m98!!

Despite that the CPU was a P1 233MMX.

That obviusly explaines the fakt that faster hdd's is needed to cut boot time or more eficient OS'ses that dont need to load so much data at boot.
If there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.
