    spazm - UK's cable modems don't go any faster than 512kbps The most I can ever get is around 55KB/sec (Although I was uncapped a few months back and could get twive your speeds )

    Got it now anyway, been running with it for a little while, and got no problems so far!

          well SP2 changes some of the system files which access the Internet, so you had to allow them access again with any of the personal firewalls like ZoneAlarm.

            Can I make 2k recovery diskettes from outside of 2k?

            I fuXx0r3d ntoskrnl.exe or my installation in general, now it won't boot, and can't recover it from the setup disk.
            Now I can get to the recovery console from the CD.
            Also, I choose the other repair method, it can't find my windows 2000 installation.
            My setup is this
            20 GB HD partitioned as follows:-
            7.98GB drive C:-Winme root and programs
            7.98GB drive D:-Win2kpro root and programs
            systemroot=d:\winnt

            I am figuring that I just need to tell the 2000 boot loader where the root and boot files are, and that should solve it. I just don't recall how to do that anymore (I'm pretty sure I did it before). If all fails a reinstall is obviously in order, but I do think this is salvageable
            BTW too embarassed to admit what fuXx0r3d the installation
