  • One more question about a 19´´ monitor :)

Ok, I bought a new monitor - A Samtron 96p. It´s a cheap 19´´ monitor from a brand owned by Samsung. Actually it´s nearly identical to the Samsung 900P. 1600x1200@75hz, 96 Khz, 205 Mhz pixel clock.

I´m pleased with it, it certainly does well for what it costs, It´s usable up to 1440x1080. Even at 1600x1200 small text is sill readable (the G400 must have its share on on this, for sure ). I use it @ 1152x864, because things just get too small for my taste at higher res. Even at 1280x960 (sorry 1280x1024 is just unnatural) web pages start to get to tiny, with losts of unused space in the borders.

But I have noticed a small color inconsistency across the screen. On the right side of the screen colors have a "greenish" tint to it, almost like if a magnetic field was close to the monitor. It´s only noticeable on white and light gray backgrouds, with darker colors (like the gray used on the picture when customizing resolutions with powerdesk) I can´t notice it.

It´s not very noticeable, actually I used the monitor for one day without noticing it.

Can I do something about it or I´m just getting what I paid for?
Of course I would like to get a Sony G400 but it costs about the triple here...

Don't be scared to return monitors.
All manufacturers have a very broad 'pass & fail' system, some monitors will be top quality, others will just scrape through testing but will still be sold at the same price as the top quality one.
When I went out to buy my 17" Iiyama VM Pro 410 I asked the showroom to attach it to one of their PC's.
I wasn't happy with the geometry and no amount of adjusting could get it quite right.
It wasn't a major flaw, but enough to annoy me.
They went and got another one from the store room which was perfect and I took that one instead.
If your not happy with it, take it back to place of purchase, of course this is always a lot easier if they or you have seen one that doesn't exhibit this issue.
It cost one penny to cross, or one hundred gold pieces if you had a billygoat.
Trolls might not be quick thinkers but they don't forget in a hurry, either
