  • Tulatin is released.

Intel Tulatin processor now available in Taipei. The 1.13G is selling for about NT8600 ~ USD260.

Another piece of news is that, there are rumours saying that this CPU will not work on the current i815E or VIA 694X boards but it works on the old Intel BX.

    Sounds Very strange..
If there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.

Its possible to raise up the voltage on a motherboard by reconfiguration.. I wonder if you could make a little "step-down transformer" (Maybe the wrong terminology.. I can't be bothered to try to look for my electronics textbook)?

The Tulatin runs at lesser voltage.. I wonder how badly 1.5volts could hurt it

That's amazing that it works on BX's! My old Abit BF6 may hit 1.5GHz yet! That's so cool....

Odd that it wont work with the 815's though. That really surprises me. Wonder why.....

I guess you could say the BX chipset is like the Chevette of the PC world... it worked so well that it had to be discontinued, otherwise it would make all the other intel products look bad...

The Tulatin will run at a default core voltage of 1.2 volts.

The lowest that a latest BX-based system board is 1.3 volts (that includes the Abit BF-6).

The Tualatin will be a Mobile Processor. Not
a Desk Top Processor. Besides it hasn't even been released yet....LOL

Now if every product intel made was as great as the BX i would LOVE that company

I really do like intel chipsets, but I can't afford a P3 or P4 (even without RAMBUST&trade , and I certainly do not see why I should pay a hefty premium. I would understand it for the chipsets though, they are simply better than anything else in the PC world

Tualatin a mobile only solution? Then why was the CPU in that picture (if genuine) a socket based CPU? Though you're working at Intel Paul, I hope you're wrong on this

Anyway, I would love an upgrade to a P3 core with 512KB L2 cache with 1.2-1.5Ghz speed somewhere in the future if my mobo would support it (BX, 1.3 lowest VCore). I wouldn't be surprised if Intel would release later steppings at 1.3v or higher if the default Tualatin runs at 1.2v.... they did the same before with the Coppermine to increase the bin ratio.

What they are hinting at is mayby that its posible to build an adaptorcard for slot1 BX boards that mayby works.

Or it's simply because many mobile computers still uses the BX chipset...

Sorry Guys, it's not a Tualatin......

You can't even tell what it is from those pictures. At least Rubank's fake G800 looked real.....LOL

Look at the Roadmap from Intel!!!!!!!

Maybe they mean Itainium but I doubt that would work on a BX chipset.

Last i heard, the main reason for the tualatin's are for either portables or low cost servers since the p4 xeons and initial boards for them are way more expensive anyways.

I don't see the tualatin being very popular on desktops, especially since they actually cost more than a low end p4(1.3 and 1.4 ghz),even though they're a lot cheaper to build than the p4 processor.

                            How's that for intel marketing..

                            note to self...

Assumption is the mother of all f***ups....

P4 2.8 ghz,1 gig DDR pc 2700(kingston),Radeon 9700(stock clock),audigy platinum and scsi all the way...
