Ok, vague impressions, since I was suckered into spending some time with the missus last night. Well, ok... if you take the last 4 letters off "suckered", and... err... NEVERMIND. (wink)

Anyway, no screen grabs or digicam pics until tonight, I'm afraid.

        But my initial impressions...

        1. The drivers are pretty good. Not perfect, but there are newer ones from PowerVR out today, so I'll be trying those later. I'm _hoping_ OpenGL is a plug 'n' plop matter...

        2. Tribes2 has some serious issues. Hence my hoping for #1.

        3. Q3 looks NICE.

Overall I'm happy with it so far. I have to try more games and get those numbers and screenshots and whatnot.

Gurm - what about 2D quality ? Is it compareable to the G400 ? Is the cooler audible / loud when the case is closed ?

"Loewe", a moderator of Deferred Power (www.mitrax.de) told me that the Kyro II has a 2D signal output compareable to the good old Millennium I. I think he/she refers to his/her own Videologic Vivid! XS.

I have to admit that I can hardly believe that ...

Actually I don´t have much trouble believing that. Ever since the KyroI chip was out that reviewers and users comment about its 2d output, much better than any card Nvidia ever made.

There were confliting reports about Kyro image quality over the net because of Powercolor Evil Kyro cards - bugdet cards wuth not-so-good component quality that ruined the 2d output. I think one regular poster here (CHHAS) was a victim of it.

I certainly trust Guillemot-Hercules as a quality video card assembler to not use cheap filters on the cards.
