I feel the need to explain now. (kowing that it's probably too late anyways) What I meant by my joke (the soap thing) is that since he was taking his time (which is fine) than maybe he might have accidentally slipped and fell and he could be in the hospital! (which isn't the case, phew!) I wasn't wishing for anything bad to happen to him either. (I feel the need to clear that one up even before it becomes an issue with you guys!)
I see people who make jokes like mine and many of you find them amusing, I thought I'd take a crack at one myself. Most of you did walk right over that joke, that's fine. (not like it was that good anyways, yes I admit it!) But keep in mind it's hard to write the way we speak. (if this would have been a live conversation, I'm sure there wouldn't be such a fuss) But if you still feel the need to prosecute me for a simple joke that was ONLY (and I emphasize greatly on the "ONLY" part) to make people laugh, than go right ahead, everybody else has. It won't be a first for me.
P.S: Btw, for any who might have been offended than I'm sorry.
Gurm: congrats on the new purchase

Titanium is the new bling!
(you heard from me first!)
I have an odd sense of humor myself so I know what you mean about not being able to convey what you mean through writing sometimes...
(Although I am only speaking for myself not anyone else)
For the Record.. My fiancee is going back home (for a few weeks, plus its a ten hour drive) to get things finalized for the wedding next month.. so I finally get some spare time so if I seem incoherant for the next little while its just the alcohol talking
Unrelated.. I know.. but kinda related... she wants me to get a Kyro II.. ok well maybe not.. but I can pretend that's what she is thinking when she is away and I can try to explain that to her later if I do get it

Not as good as Matrox. Definitely better than anything else I've seen (including my brother's Radeon).
Running 1600x1200x72 on my 19" monitor
3D- (this isn't going to be very scientific I'm afraid, I tend to go by 'feel' rather than benchmark numbers :P)
Unreal Tournament
Played a quick game of Unreal Fortress (yes I just had to pimp it somewhere ) against some bots. 1280x960 average 60fps. Lowest framerate I spotted was 38. It felt smoother than my G400Max at 800x600.
No artifacts in D3d or OpenGL (using most recent UT Opengl driver). Speed seemed pretty much identical in each. I haven't tried the large textures yet.
Identical performance in Win98SE and Win2k
Serious Sam
Again no artifacts, I messed with too many settings and can't remember them all now so I can't say anything about speed other than 'fast'.
I'm using the 7.89 drivers that shipped with the card right now, it was getting late by the time I got hold of the newer drivers.
The cooler on the card is completely inaudible over the general hum of the rest of my machine.
One strange point - if I have my monitor on (and in powersaving) when I turn my computer on, I get the beepcode for gfx card not present/failure. It think this could be PSU related though.
I'll get some screenies when I get home if nobody else has managed to before then
Sorry about the delay. My machine got dropped (long story) onto concrete from chest-height.
Hard drives are (mostly) ok. All the boards (motherboard included) are fine. Case is mangled.
Anyone got any suggestions on a good solid (preferably soundproof) case? I'm willing to shell out good money. It has to be able to hold 4 hard drives (with plenty of cooling space), 3 CD drives, a full size dual-processor board, a full complement of cards, with room to spare. Tower form factor. And not SUPER TALL, since I'd _LIKE_ to fit it under my desk.
Hmm... I'll put that in another thread, I think. Anyway, more on the Kyro...
Had problems with ACPI. Wasn't sure it was the Kyro, although nothing else had changed. The system woudln't auto-detect as ACPI, and of course APM was hosed as a result. Also the card REALLY doesn't like sharing an IRQ in regular mode, even with the ultra-friendly 3COM NIC.
So I reflashed the BIOS, and it was better. But still had some issues with something. And then, lo and behold... changed the AGP setting from "auto" to "4x" in the BIOS and it worked fine. Hmmm...
Anyhow, it is now running 100%. The older 2D games that I had previously had trouble with (Clandestiny most recently but there have been others) on the G400 are running flawlessly. After setting it to AGP 4x, the text is crisper, too. (VERY STRANGE!)
I haven't had a chance to retry Quake3, but in non-ACPI mode (took me a while to realize it wasn't in ACPI, btw) r_smp=1 produced random hangs. I suspect the drivers aren't ready for that. But 1280x1024x32bpp+32tex looked just as smooth as 800x600x32bpp+16tex did on the G400. Framerates never lower than 40fps. Very nice.
Videos are... not quite as good as the G400 or the Radeon. Then again, I didn't expect them to be. Certainly not DEFINABLY worse, just the overall "2D isn't as good" syndrome.
The color depth on this card is FAR superior to the GeFarce.
I'll get the shots of the board, as well as some in-game and in-windows shots up ASAP. I'll also start clocking things at both 2x700 and 2x933.
The Win2k performance on this is EXACTLY the same as the Win9x performance. Finally SOMEONE made good Win2k drivers (except the r_smp=1 thing...)!

A good case to think about is the Addtronics 7896A. I use a smaller version of it, but my version doesn't have the internal space you need. Look around their site, they've got some good stuff.
They use a thick (compared to other cases) steel that help strengthen the case and reduce the noise. I added Dynamat to my case and with 11 fans blasting away it isn't that loud.

I will be getting my Kyro 2 on Friday, and I will put it under some serious tests.
This week I got myself a brand new computer.
And the specs are:
T-Bird 1,33GHz @ 1551MHz (AXIA0114), Alpha PEP66+Delta 7K (running at 51 degrees Celsius at 1551MHz!! ), Asus A7V133, 256 MB Mosel Vitelic 7ns PC133 CAS2, Chieftec TX-103 (very good case), Iiyama VM Pro 451 (I love this screen)...bla bla bla
I think this system is good enough to unleash the power of the 3d Prophet, what do you think!
The monitor should be good enough to show how good the Kyro's 2D is. The Riva TNT that I have in my computer right now really sucks.
Enough bragging. Finally someone has released a card that is actually worth the money you spend on it.

My Addtronics 7890A case is nice. Similar to the 7896A case Jammrock mentioned. The case has 7 5 1/2" bays. Tons of room and many places to put fans. It's about 26" tall, and it easily fits under my desk (though I have a rather large desk).
