Howdy all. I just put together an athlon system out of old parts, it consists of the following:
Shuttle AI61 mainboard (AMD 751 chipset)
Athlon Classic 550 (non-OC)
TNT2 vid card (also non-OC)
128 generic PC 133 RAM
D-LINK nic (x2)
Vortex 2 sound card
Win2k Advanced Server
The problem is, in Half Life/CS, the only game I have on there at the moment, and the only one I really care about, it takes a LONG time for the levels to load, and if I try to get back to the menu, I get a blue screen, that's right, BSOD in win2k. This is in D3D btw, as OGL doesn't work. Everything seems to run fine in software mode, which makes me think it probably has something to do with the AGP bus. I can't find Win2k drivers for the AGP bus, only 98. I noticed that the AGP bus is running at 2x, so I was thinking forcing 1x might help, but I can't find any way to do this, as there is no option in the bios. I have tried the newest video drivers from Nvidia's site, as well as the 6.5 and 6.31 reference drivers. I know this is a long shot as all these parts are getting on in age, but ANY suggestions, no matter how off the wall are much appreciated.
