question about jumper setting on pioneer 305S scsi drive

working with an OEM pioneer 305S dvd drive.
jumper 6 in the drive configuration gives me two options, unjumpered=2048 or jumpered=512!
which setting do I use & what are the two options in understandable language??

Just guessing here, sounds like the buffer size on the drive in KB.

I *think* that has to do with the operating system support and that you only need to change it from default setting when running SCO/Unix
