  • Sticker on the bottom of a Duron

Im helping my brother putting together a computer, and he has recieved all the parts. He found out that the place he bought the cpu from has put a small sticker underneath the cpu.

Is it true that this will fry the cpu (Im going to remove it no matter what)? I have also read somewhere (cant remember where) that AMD refuses to sell cpu's to any reseller who puts on this kind of sticker?

Any pictures of the result (fried cpu) or link where I can find out more would be appreciated.

    Jesper

most likely a warranty sticker from your dealer, removal of which voids his warranty!

The easyest way to find out is by asking at the place were he got the CPU! We used to get AMD CPU's with s/n stickers underneath them from one importer but I asked them to stop doing that (and they did)!

        Ehhh...it a DURON!

Take off the bloody sticker! Screw the warranty...once you know it will POST and boot, it isn't going to fail unless you do something really stupid (Might be a different story if we were talking about a new 1.4G T-Bird, but I would still take it off, but that's just me). Almost all the AMD OEM processors I have bought have had some stupid bloody sticker stuck on the underside...right where the thermal sensor is supposed to contact. Turn some bloody moron loose with a pile of stickers...sheesh!

I have only seen it on P1-MMX cpu's!

Yes do extactly what Echo said, then overclock, your Duron wont fail you. If problems occur get an RMA for the sticker .

The purpose of that sticker is to enhance the odor when you fry your CPU.

I don't know what the "Wunderbaum" means but we have Tree shaped air fresheners here. Folks hang them off the rear view mirrors in their cars, or stick them under the seats.

Yeah, that's exactly what a Wunder-Baum is (those little trees you hang on your rear view mirror, not the woman ) - I just wondered if/why those are known in other countries under the same german name

And I REALLY can't understand why people use the "new car" fragrance...

Here in Denmark they are known under the name Wunderbaum - although Im not sure that they are indeed wunderbar - guess it depends on what smell they are supposed to overshadow!

Btw, do you know why (most?) men prefer a woman in leather? They like the smell of a new car
