      I totally agree, although generally its the same thing, but for some programs its better to disable what they are loading from within themselves, otherwise they keep enabling it, ie, they keep creating new entries in the 'run' key! Plus, less the no. of entries in msconfig, better it is!! Hence the recommendation.

        Does disabling it (from Task Manager itself) not remove it from msconfig anyway?

          That's what I meant! Sorry for not being clear!
          Disabling it from within task manager itself removes the entry from msconfig (actually the 'run' key in the registry) while if it is disabled from msconfig, the entry stays there, but is obviously disabled, leading to the same end result.
