I know, yet there are still some inf files and registry entries that remain after using it and rebooting.

      Nuno:
Doesn't seem to likely that it was a bad card given that it installed ok in Win 2k. It just wouldn't install in Win98.

For the gaming problems I tried pretty much every option on or off in every combination that I could and it didn't seem to help.

Also running Directx 8a so that shouldn't be the problem.

BTW, you just uninstall the drivers from add/remove software. It actuall works quite well. Only had to manually delete 2 references to the card/drivers.

DirectX 8.0a is exactly the one you shouldn't use.
Try 7.0a or if you have some games that want 8, try 8.1 build 0620 (beta).

          Admiral:
I need direct x 8 for a number of apps that I use and I'm not willing to use a beta of 8.1 in order to use the Kyro. And, I shouldn't have to. If the card can't deal with the current release of direct x then it's a problem with the card/drivers that should have been fixed before release.

            Gurm:

I did do some rooting around on various forums to see if I could find some useful info for my situation but the problems were so severe (i.e. couldn't even get the drivers installed in Win 98 part of my dual boot setup) that I felt in the long run it just wasn't worth my time or effort.

But please note: I'm not dissing the card, it just seemed to have major problems with my system. It happens and I've moved on.

Still waiting for the Matrox G Gazillian (with render-nude).

The issue with scrolling is quite specifically a problem with page flipping. There is a registry hack to enable it... if you bothered to read the Hercules forums (at forum.hercules.com) you might have found it, as well as other helpful tips for getting this card working.

However, as always I feel obliged to point out that it is most likely your setup, as this card worked marvelously for me, even with the out of the box drivers.

One drawback I find is that it lacks active SMP support. Big surprise... but passive works just fine so no big problem.
