So are you saying that your experience in buying memory and building computers extends back to when you were ~12?

Greebe.... i've checked them 3 days ago 'cuz i thought about changing both modules to crucial.... but u're either forgoting or not knowing that there's an exchange rate of 60%.
Now 65$US makes 100$CAN. When it passed at the import dudites they'll add 15% of taxes. Which makes 115$. Then UPS or purolator or.... will add 25$ for the import dudies invoice and add taxes, details and...... (not gonna write everything here too long) they'll charge at least 35$+15%taxes. In the end that makes 155.27$ (plus things i might have forgotten). Generic ram cost 55$ that's a big difference, isn't it?
Now think about an other thing... no store in quebec sell's CAS2 brand ram.... all store put brandless... if u want crucial either ask 'em (three's a big fee there) or buy it at crucial.com.

Hehehe.... that could be a great idea... but if i really wanted to do that i could go to school and take the whole computer since they don't lock doors and they placed all the cameras in way that u can reach the staircase without being seen. Some pc has already been stoled like that, but people prefer only taking ram since case are'nt screwed and it's easyer to hide.<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size="2">Originally posted by KvHagedorn:
hehe.. spazm, if crucial really is twice as expensive there, you should sew it up in your coat and smuggle it across the border en masse and make tons o' money on the black market. A DIMM really isn't that big..

I have a similar problem here, very few people in Japan build their own pc's so the best I can find is *no name*.
However my local pc superstore prides itself on good quality, (if you sell faulty products in Japan you don't stay in business long) and I haven't had any trouble with any sticks bought here.
Its a financial killer trying to import pc bits here.

Ps Gurm, I got that new 'blue box' for the linux system, works a treatJuu nin to iro

Why is crucial so damn expensive in the US?
Infineon PC133CL2 (which, I suppose, offers similar quality), costs ~40 Euro for a 128 MB Module...
I myself have just gotten two Optosys 128 MB PC133 CL2 modules for ~33 Euro per (yes, I don't have that much money
)

Yep, brand name ram is good stuff :-)
About to order another 128 meg stick of kingmax ram. Costs about $80 (AUS), or $85 if I add delivery (cause I am too lazy to go get it myself). I have a duron system, so it pays to get the best ram.
Generic ram costs about $50-$60 (AUS) depending on where you get it from here, so paying a bit extra isn't much of a problem. Generic ram is great for old, or/and celeron systems. They run at 66mhz bus, so any ram is fine.

I have a question though...
Is there a difference (noticeable for home users, not servers) between different brand RAMs, IE is Crucial better/worse than Kingston/Infineon/whatever?
There are some price differences here, Crucial costs about the same here as in the US, while other brands are cheaper and some cost WAY more.
Thanks
