  • IE 6 page caching in NT/Win2k

Here at work on NT and Win2k my browser never refreshes pages in the forums unless I do it manually.
It doesn't make any difference what setting for cache size or circumstance I set IE6 to.
Each time I revisit a topic I have to do a refresh or I just see the posts I saw the last time I viewed the topic.
I have a very fast connection here at work so caching is not important to me. Is there a way to turn off page caching completely?
At home on Win98 this has never been a problem.
    thanks,
    chuck

Try setting Check for newer versions of stored page in Tools->Options->Settings to Every visit to page.

That's one of the seemingly hundreds of combinations of settings I've already tried.
      Thanks for trying though.

Right now I have it set to a 1 meg cache(the lowest setting it will allow)
      and "check every visit".
      It hasn't made any difference.

Then it's probably some enforced company proxy in action. You don't have it visible and you can't simply turn it off in Connections -> Lan Settings, can you?

I couldn't get through the firewall if I didn't pass through the proxy.
I have tried both proxies. (peons-vs-tech people )
Now I run through the proxy client which gives me more or less free acess to the outside world

Just saw this link over on tweak3d.net

Not sure if it will help you but it's worth a try...
