The Denon RCD-M33 has turned out to be a really nice compact source.
I've been lucky and hunted down 2 of them.

Nice. I like Grado headphones, but I still prefer Sennheiser. Never heard of Meier though. My headphone setup is an Echo Indigo PCMCI card and my Sennheiser HD-595's. Surprisingly with a good media player, like foobar2000 with ASIO support installed and enabled, it sounds really good. Especially with lossless sources.

I'm a fan of Sennheiser and they are high impedance headphone ~300 ohms. You would do well to get an amp for the Sennheiser.

The Meier's Cantate amp I have next to my PC also has a DAC for a USB source so I can use the computer. I need to ditch the creative sound card someday.

I've switched from Sennheiser to the Grado and Ultrasone Prolines. The Sennheiser tend to be a bit veiled and need a lot of current to drive them. The Ultrasone Proline use the latest in Headphone technology and have the lowest bass response for headphones. The Proline 750's are amazing and someday I want to get the Edition 9's.

Your missing a lot with the 595's....


A good upgrade from the Sennheiser 595 would be the Proline 750s. Northern Sound and Light sells them for $262.86 plus $12.64 shipping. My Sennheiser 600s became severely neglected after getting the Prolines so I sold the Sennheisers. If you don't have an account you will have to call to get prices and place an order with them.

I started on the Proline path with the 650's and ended up with the 750's. My first impression of the Circumaurial sound of the Prolines was OMFG!!!!!!!!....LOL!!!

I have heard about ProLine, but have never listened to them. When I bought my 595's 3'ish years ago they were the besdt in my price range. Some day I will upgrade my head-fi setup, but not in the near future. I would like a nice dedicated setup with some new cans, but my cash has other priorities at the moment.
